Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please keep in mind each piece is one of a kind, handmade by me with many being made to your order. You truly are getting a one of a kind piece of jewelry since no two pieces are created exactly the same. Due to the pieces being made by my two hands, pieces may vary slightly from photographs. This is the same for sizes and colors, and dimensions are approximate. I try to keep my images as close as I can to the in-person color but I am only human and pictures may vary slightly in color. You can always contact me for more images.

  • I highly recommend finding your correct ring size before placing your ring order as there are resizing fees and some rings just cannot be resized due to the nature of the stone/design.

Please note that my sizes are based of American ring sizes from my ring mandrel tool. (A tapered metal rod the ring slides onto to determine the ring size.)When it comes to wider ring bands it may feel more snug than what it measures on the mandrel. Depending on if your finger gets wider/more fleshier at the bottom I suggest sizing up a quarter, to a half size. If you are a size 7 I might suggest a 7.25 or 7.5 because a wide size 7 will compress that skin at the bottom of your finger.

I created my own ring sizing form for you to use from your own home to help you determine your ring size. Make sure you follow the proper printing instruction written on the form. It must be printed at 100% scale in order to be accurate. Click here for the EEJ Ring Sizing Form

For frequent ring purchasers - you can find a plastic sizer on Amazon that is great for helping find your finger measurements. Find it here.

Another great method to help you find your ring size would be visiting your local jewelry store. Most jewelry stores will even size your finger for free. This is one of the most accurate ways to determine your ring size. I suggest to have them size all your fingers for future reference.

  • Use a seamstress measuring tape or string/ruler to measure around the widest part of your hand with your thumb folded over (just under your knuckles and on top of your thumb knuckle). Make sure the tape is snug around your hand/thumb!That measurement in inches is your bangle size. For example, if it measures 7.5 inches around, then your bangle size is 7.5. Then Tell me if you would like a snug fit, comfort fit, or loose fit. If not clarified I make them to a comfort fit.

  • Use a seamstress measuring tape or string/ruler to measure your wrist. Size small fits a 5.5” to 6” wrist, average fits a 6” to 6.5” wrist, large fits a 6.5” to 7” wrist extra large fits 7” to 7.5”. Please measure your wrist before purchase.

Each cuff is slightly adjustable but it is not a good idea to bend a handmade cuff over and over. This warps the overall shape and could damage the piece. The trick to putting on a cuff bracelet is to turn the inner wrist (palm side) toward your body and take the open part of the cuff and push it down onto the thinnest part of the top inside edge of your wrist then twist the face of the cuff outward to lay on the top of your wrist (knuckle side). No bending needed to open and close the cuff. I suggest bending the cuff initially to the right fit and leaving it as is.

  • Hand fabricated jewelry is artwork and should be treated so to ensure its longevity. Following these instructions and using common sense will help maintain the life of your wearable art.

Tarnishing or oxidation is a result of oxygen or sulfur coming into contact with sterling silver. Tarnished silver is duller and sometimes a dark color. Emma Elizabeth Jewelry works with .925 Sterling Silver and because of the higher purity, silver like this will tarnish more quickly. Many pieces are intentionally oxidized to achieve the desired look for the design.

Sterling silver jewelry LOVES to be worn. Wearing your sterling silver jewelry can actually keep it from tarnishing! The natural oils from your skin actually protect and clean the silver. However, certain activities can cause your jewelry to lose its luster. Remove your jewelry before working out or any strenuous acctivity, taking a shower, swimming, cleaning, applying hairspray, putting on lotion or applying makeup.

Store your jewelry in an airtight jewelry box or in a plastic baggy, somewhere with low humidity. Save those silica packets that come in a new purse and place them in your jewelry box or plastic bag to keep the moisture out. Avoid storing in direct sunlight.

When cleaning, use a soft toothbrush, warm water, and dawn original soap. This is the process I use to clean the pieces at the end of the creation process.

Polishing your jewelry is usually the best way to clean it. I recommend the Sunshine polishing cloth, you can easily find and purchase this cloth off of Amazon. Polishing your jewelry before it becomes too tarnished will minimize the amount of work needed. When polishing avoid areas that were intentionally oxidized as part of the design. I recommend buying the Sunshine polishing cloth immediately after your purchase of sterling silver jewelry.

It is pretty simple, following these guidelines of how to store, wear and clean your jewelry will dramatically prolong the life of your jewelry.

  • The patina used to blacken (oxidize) the sterjing silverl may not last forever. Why? The mixture of daily wear, body chemistry, applying lotions, hand sanitizers, sweating, using cleaning products and others things can effect or remove the patina over time. I apply the oxidation by dipping it in a patina. This patina only darkens the surface of the metal, it does not darken it from he inside out, for good. The purpose of the the oxidation is sI that t will take on it’s own finish and antiquing from your pattern of wear. If you would like your piece re-oxidized, you can ship it to me and I will re-apply free care. The only fee is return shipping.

  • Bespoke designs and sale items are non-refundable. In addition, any piece of jewelry that has been modified for any reason (ie. ring resizing, necklace length adjustment, etc.) to fit your needs is also considered bespoke and is non-refundable once altered. If you are unhappy with a stock item that you have purchased from Emma Elizabeth Jewelry, I ask that you contact me within 7 days of the date you received your purchase to be refunded. Items must be returned with their original packaging and in perfect, unworn condition. *Refund does not include shipping costs or processing fees. *Return shipping costs are the buyers responsibility.
